but I guess that's a different thread.A Company allows moding, in fact, codes for it so that they actually support the modders even when they then get blamed for cleaning up garbage and such that some of the modders put out.

Not too sure about automatically updating mods. That's what I wonder about with mods downloaded via the workshop - sure I could unsubscribe and dump them if I didn't like them, but could I tweak them to my liking in the CK, or would Steam just overwrite with the original? Would Steam see those changes as corruption and just download the original ESPs to 'fix' it?ĮDIT: nvm - had a quick look, the ESPs are just 1KB, nothing shows in 'Details' in the CK - I guess they just activate the BSAs, all or nothing. but it seems like I'm going to be forced to take it anyway, as it's the same Steam Account.Īlso - with it being a DLC, I wonder what would happen if I tried to use the Creation Kit to edit the ESPs and pick 'n choose just some Hi-Res textures? Just occurs to me: What if I decide to install Skyrim on my laptop? I know for a fact that couldn't handle the HiRes pack. But it looks like it's gonna keep rolling back like a bad penny. Or move the BSAs into my 'unpack' folder to use as a basis for any textures I might like to tweak, as suggested). BUT - it'd be really nice to be able to 'unbuy' the DLC and dump it completely. I might end up having to just disable it and go back to the way it was. I knew I might be pushing the boat out a bit - I've got Vista 32bit and a GeForce GTX 260 - but I thought I'd try it anyway. I've been able to get away with enabling just the second ESP without an insta-crash, but haven't played enough to see if it causes a problem with more play. I've downloaded the HiRes pack, tried it in-game and had similar problems to the rest of you - crashes instantly outdoors with both ESPs enabled. And this is why I'm just a touch wary of Steam Workshop.
